Green Reflector Marking of Informal Truck Bays

EXTENDED ABSTRACT: There is a recognised and confirmed lack of sufficient truck rest areas in Australia. Changes to the laws and penalties under which truckdrivers operate and more trucks on the road, has seen even more pressure put on these sites. The growing number of “Grey Nomads” on the road at certain times of the year, many of whom “freecamp”, often in designated truck bays, is yet another factor.
The cost of new rest areas is substantial and the long time to build is yet another delay, so a cheap and effective alternative, even if only as an interim measure, was needed.
