Abstract
The issue of safer speeds in regards to survivability in regards to head on crashes on undivided rural roads with 100 km/h limits, intersection crashes in regards to side impact and vulnerable road user survivability at speeds needs to be addressed from a practical point of view from a police officer with extensive crash reconstruction, enforcement and engineering expertise. These are three areas where bringing certain speed limits back to survivable limits in terms of engineering design would result in a significant reduction in road trauma.
