The potential safety benefits from use of in vehicle telematics: Electronic work diaries

This presentation will cover the potential safety benefits from use of in vehicle technology to record work and rest hours. Safety benefits accrue from the real time information available to drivers to assist them in conforming with complex fatigue laws as well as from providing information to assist operators manage driver compliance and schedule and plan work. Benefits are closely aligned with the safety culture of the organisation. Importantly, in-vehicle technology in the form of electronic work diaries does not tell if a driver is fatigued – only hours of work and rest and compliance with fatigue laws.
